The Sasha Celebration Weekend…..the Raffle and Doll Groups

The raffle was held in our private hall after Saturday’s luncheon (which was brought down into an adjoining room for us to either eat there of take outside onto the enclosed patio area in the sunshine.

People had been so very generous in donating items and Janet had already decided that the proceeds would be going to add onto the 2015 Forthworth Sasha Festival  in Texas children’s charity fund auction

The main prize was this attractively dressed and customised Sailor lad by Janet whilst Lorraine very kindly made up an accompanying wardrobe. He was delightedly won by Theresa O’Neill.

Many thanks to all those for their very kind donations which bought in the magnificent total of £624 and this will be doubled by the Texas Festival sponsors to £1,248.
I must say again just how generous so many of the ticket winners were having won a couple of the items themselves they then gave their winning numbers up to those who hadn’t won anything as yet. I think that everyone went home with at least two raffle gifts.
My Sasha Brood are lucky enough not to want for much so having passed my winning number on to Dollmum’s daughter Petrana then gave up one of hers to me and chose the gift of the Chanel perfume to give to me. How lucky was I as I like to think of myself as a Chanel girl but, due to my Sasha Collecting and helping my daughter with her major roof and house repairs Ican’t always afford it! Many, many thanks again Petrana!

The next set of photos are of the doll groups positioned on the window sills although I’m afraid that some of them aren’t as clear as I would have liked them to have been having to be taken against the natural light.

This last group of photos are of the final activity, the dolls BBQ, cleverly thought of and set up by Theresa O’Neill. It was rather crowded with people and cameras and dollie goodbyes as everyone prepared to take their dolls and leave for home but I hopefully managed to move along the line at doll level and then come backwards standing upright to make sure that I got the dolls standing at the back….though unfortunately it looks as though they weren’t ALL here some having obviously been already packed away for the homeward journey.

  1. Hi Kendal thank you for such a wonderful post and fantastic photos of our wonderful weekend, can’t wait to do it all again next year xx

  2. I love all these posts so much Kendal, what beautiful photographs you have taken of all our wonderful memories xx

    • I was a bit worried as I didn’t get the chance to check on how the photos were actually coming out and most of them were on the same large memory card (to save me having to stop and exchange it in the middle of something) so it could have been a right disaster!
‘My heart was in my mouth’ when I came to download them onto my laptop but luckily all was well…. though would still like a better camera for these occasions.

    • Thanks Lorraine. It was quite a job sorting them into sections as I was basically fipping from one thing to another and then filling in the gaps with odd photos of the attendees or the dolls.
Must try to be a little more organised the next time as hopefully it will be easier with having this experience under my belt!..

  3. Sweetness overload! I think I’d be in a frenzy if I saw so many beautiful Sasha dolls in one place! Oh that beautiful Daniela! She’s my favorite. And it’s so hard to pick a favorite!
    Just lovely!

  4. Hi Kendal,
Another wonderful feast of fabulous pics from the weekend. The raffle main prize was just amazing and what a ton of other raffle prizes there were too each and every one just fabulous. How nice of those who got more than one or two to donate to others. That’s what makes the Sasha collectors so special, everybody is so kind and helpful to each other. It was lovely that everybody got at least two prizes each. The pics of the little groups of Sasha’s in the windows are gorgeous and the BBQ pics are fab. It really looks like all the Sasha’s are having fun and chatting to each other, with the babies and toddlers included too. The Sashas were having their own little festival as were the collectors. Thanks for going to so much trouble to give all of us that couldn’t make it feel as if we had been there. It looks like it was a wonderful weekend and hopefully the start of many more to come. Also, well done to Janet for the weekend which must have taken an incredible amount of time, work and energy she has done an amazing job by the looks of it.
    Love,
    Susan xxxx

    • Yes this raffle had an amazing star prize plus so many gifted items that the drawing of the tickets took a very long time with such generousity and kindness of many of the winners to others less fortunate in such evidence.

I too so enjoy seeing other collector’s dolls and how they dress them. Each and everyone an individual and with their own style of clothing bringing out their little characters.

I am sure that the dolls had as wonderful a time as the grown-ups did! The final Sunday’s BBQ was a great success for them too and they were able to cope with the long journeys home with their little stomachs full to busting.

Janet had done wonders in arranging this weekend so magnificently that it has indeed been voted to become a Sasha event next year and hopefully to continue in the years to follow.
